Balancing Your Life with Reiki

Reiki is a system of natural healing developed in Japan by Dr. Fikao Usui. Reiki utilizes Universal Life Energy to restore health and wholeness by promoting healing and harmony physically, spiritually and emotionally.

Reiki enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself and allows one to experience a state of relaxation, balance, and well-being through balancing the body’s energies.

But what is energy?

Can you think of an uncomfortable memory or feeling you have had recently?

When you are feeling energy within yourself that is uncomfortable or painful, it is exactly that; energy… and it is only energy.   

This build up of energy is resistance to its flow in the body and is in need of balance.

You know your energy is flowing well and in balance when you feel happy, even blissful.  You surrender to the experiences around you with wonder and are less apt to judge things as good or bad.

But where does this energy come from that courses through your body? 

Reiki is a system of healing the body that connects the Universal Life Force energy know as “Rei” with the body’s life force known as “Ki” or in different cultures or religions have different words for this life force that is moving in you including Chi, Qui, Prana or Holy Spirit.

The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit for this Universal Life Force energy when with an individual willing to receive the energy.  The Reiki practitioner uses their hands and places them over the body in certain sequences and the energy will naturally flow where the individual needs to receive it; thus balancing out the energy flow in the body.

This is not just supposition. Research workers at Stanford University using sensitive instruments were able to measure the energy flow in the body and verified that the Reiki energy enters the crown chakra (head) and exits through the palm chakras in the hands.

It is important to know that Reiki:

1. Is not a religion
2. Only works on the physical level

Like many individuals today, I chose to find a way to heal from an illness when medicine offered no other alternatives.  I was told I would have this illness the rest of my life. The medications were terrible.

I went on a path of inner healing. There was a voice inside me reasoned that God would not create a being that could not heal itself!  Common now, planes can self check, computers can, why not me?

I was lead to Reiki.  

 As a physical therapist I was taught about the systems of the body, i.e., the circulatory system, the musculoskeletal system, etc.  There was no mention of the energy system and if it was brought up it was considered on the same plane as magic or witchcraft. Being brought up in the medical system, energy of the body was frowned upon.

When I first became attuned to Reiki and felt energy move in my hands, something anyone can learn to do, I was absolutely amazed.  

I was shocked that the energy system had been left out of my education.  It was real!

Reiki taught me to feel the movement of energy in and around me and was my first step in discovering the power of energy system.  The energy system is where your emotions and emotional energy reside and your emotions are your guideposts in life.

I am so grateful because with Reiki and my journey into the energy healing modalities, I can truly say I am disease free today.
